Support and Assistance for Victims of Crime and Abuse

Few events in a person's life are more traumatic than being the victim of a crime. The immediate hardship caused by crime - injury, loss of cash and property, fear for your safety - are often followed by feelings of despair and hopelessness. If you are in New York City and are the victim of a crime, from domestic violence to robbery, Safe Horizon can help you. We offer emotional support and practical assistance immediately after the crime has occurred and for the long-term. Our programs and services are described below. New York Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) System

The New York VINE system is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or Internet to search for information regarding the custody status of their offender and to register to receive telephone and e-mail notification when the offender’s custody status changes.

The VINE toll-free number for the New York VINE system is 1.888.VINE 4 NY (888.846.3469).  This service is provided to assist victims of crime who have a right to know about their offender's custody status. You may also visit VINE online by clicking this link.
